Along with the official introduction of the LFA supercar, Lexus has launched an online configurator so that the masses—beyond the 500 future customers—can have a chance to customise their very own supercar. But what’s interesting here is the variety of colours you can specify for both the exterior and interior. Yes, variety is great, but not when a “Passionate Pink” exterior is matched to violet seats, orange steering wheel, cream-coloured carpet, “Camel Yellow” headliner and red trim everything else. Lexus allows for lots of autonomy—too much of which may turn out to be bad. It is hard to imagine Ferrari or Lamborghini allowing for this, presumably to protect the prestige of their brands.
