Six Drivers Including Fairuz Fauzy Shortlisted For Lotus F1 Team

Fairuz Fauzy

Despite our criticisms, it appears that 1Malaysia-Lotus F1 Team’s preparations are going on fine. Six drivers have been shortlisted to race, but only one of them, Fairuz Fauzy, is Malaysian, according to Lotus F1 Team principal Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes. The 27-year-old Fauzy was the reserve and test driver for the Spyker F1 team, and had experience in GP2. Currently, he represents A1 Team Malaysia, and is racing in the World Series.

“I hope the Malaysian driver will be selected as either the second driver or third driver for the team”, Fernandes said, without confirming whether Jarno Trulli, who is racing for Toyota, was being considered.

Fernandes further mentioned that there were 6500 work applications, 300 of which were for the technical side. But due to limited positions, only 50 will make it through as technical personnel.
