Volkswagen Scirocco & Passat CC

Volkswagen Malaysia has officially launched the Passat CC and the Scirocco in Malaysia. Available in showrooms now, Passat CC sells for RM 239,888, while Scirocco goes for RM 243,888, although you will have to wait till next week to find it in the showrooms.

The four-door coupe Passat CC is of course closely related to Passat, but is positioned to be sportier on the roads and more premium in image. The asking price is higher than the RM 228,888 for Passat, however, and the four-seater configuration might deter some. Scirocco is a two-door, four-seater coupe based on Golf GTI Mk6, sharing the same drivetrain and impeccable cabin.

Both models are powered by a 2.0-litre TSI engine, equipped with turbocharging and direct injection, generating 200 hp at 5100–6000 rpm and 280 Nm at 1700–5000 rpm. Passat CC comes with a six-speed Tiptronic gearbox, while Scirocco has a six-speed DSG gearbox instead.

Equipment count is generous for either model, including items such as 18" alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights, leather upholstery, and 6-disc CD/MP3/WMA/radio touch-screen audio system with iPod connectivity. Safety kit includes front/side/curtain airbags, plus braking, traction and stability controls. The highlight is the Adaptive Chassis Control (DCC), which allows switching between three modes—Sport, Comfort and Normal—that offer varying suspension stiffness, steering weighting and throttle response.
