Naza is now the official and exclusive distributor of the Chevrolet brand in Malaysia, adding to its stable of franchised brands which includes Kia, Peugeot, Ferrari, Maserati and Brabus. This comes after the recent breakup between DRB-HICOM and General Motors.
By the end of the year, Naza is targeting for there to be 18 3S (sales, service and spare parts) dealerships throughout Malaysia, with five under Naza. That compares to the current eight dealerships in the country.
Another target is to sell 1600 Chevrolet vehicles for the year, the bulk of which are expected to come from Chevrolet Cruze, a mid-size segment sedan that would be launched in the second quarter of 2010. That sales figure, if achieved, will be nearly three times the 564 units sold in 2009.
Naza would eventually introduce a full line-up of Chevrolet vehicles, although no model except for the Cruze was revealed. Naza is also considering local assembly, known as CKD (completely knocked down) operations, for certain models in Naza’s Gurun assembly plant in Kedah.
