Following the success of the last-generation Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, the lightweight, stripped-down version of the new Gallardo LP560-4 was just waiting to be introduced. And, indeed, it has made its debut appearance at the Geneva Motor Show.
Mechanically, the 5.2-litre V10 has been tuned to produce 10 horses more at 562 bhp (570 hp, hence the LP570-4 name), while the maximum torque stays unchanged at 540 Nm. Lamborghini’s E-gear transmission remains standard, although a manual gearbox can be chosen for no extra money.
The power gains are accompanied by the shedding of around 70 kg from the standard Gallardo, through the use of lighter materials throughout the car, with carbon-fibre being the choice material.
Boasting a 0-100 km/h time of 3.4 seconds, the new Gallardo Superleggera however brings more than just faster straight-line performance; Handling is likely to be sharper too, thanks to a series of aerodynamic and suspension tweaks.
